As many of you may have read in the Nixle message from Franklin Township, the N.J. Dept. of Transportation will be starting up again at the project to fix the 10 Mile Run culvert along Rt. 27. The 10 Mile Run area (named after the 10 Mile Run tributary of the
Millstone River) is located just south of the intersection of Route 27 with Rt. 518/Gateway Blvd.

During the time of the closure, northbound traffic on Rt. 27 will be detoured, presumably at Promenade Blvd to Rt. 1 (as in the past). Southbound traffic on Rt. 27 will not be detoured, but flagmen will be present to caution traffic in the area to slow and
stop as needed.
The flagmen will also stop traffic in the southbound lane to allow northbound emergency vehicles to use the southbound lane if needed to travel through the area.
If you are responding to an emergency using northbound Rt. 27 or transporting a patient where time delay because of the detour would negatively impact the patient, make sure you have your emergency lights on and use your siren when approaching to let the flagmen
know you are approaching. Wait for the flagmen to signal it is safe for you to proceed. Otherwise, avoid the area and use the detour.
