[KPFARS-Members] Pipeline Safety Program

Our squad members have been invited to participate in a pipelane safety program and dinner on October 20, 2014, at the Imperia on Easton (1714 Easton Avenue, Somerset, NJ 08873).  Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. and the program follows and  is about 90 minutes long with a question and answer session following the program.  The program is sponsored by a cooperative of pipeline owners including Buckeye Partners, Citgo, Phillips 66, Sunoco, Williams Gas, and others.

The program syllabus reads as follows:

Do
you know where the gas and liquid pipelines are located in your
jurisdiction?  Are you prepared to respond
to a pipeline release?  ­Although pipeline
releases are rare, you need to be prepared - your community is depending on you.


Local
pipeline and gas distribution companies are hosting a pipeline-safety program that
includes a meal and presentation. Critical emergency response planning information
will be presented. The following objectives will be covered during the program: 



            • Pipeline Purpose and Reliability                                                       •
Products: Hazards and Characteristics

            • Safety Initiatives                                                                                  •
Leak Recognition and Response 

                        •
Pipeline Location                                                                     •
Defining High Consequence Areas 

                        •
Hazard Awareness and Prevention Methods                      •
Virtual Incident Scenarios 

                        • Pipeline Maintenance Activities                    


                         

Programs
are conducted in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 192 parts
615 and 616, as well as 195 parts 402, 403 and 440

is important. Company representatives may be in attendance as a resource to discuss:
