is run by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and provides the most up-to-date information about this coronavirus.
I am also attaching a copy of the latest edition (June 2017) of the EMS Infectious Disease Playbook for your review.
While to date there have not been any reported cases of 2019-nCoV, all members should take the following precautions:
You should wash your hands with soap and water after completing each call and utilize hand sanitizer frequently.
Examination gloves should be donned before making patient contact and should be changed between patients. They should also be removed prior to handling equipment, keys, laptop, steering wheel, etc.
The ambulance cot should be cleaned with a disinfectant and the sheets changed, after Every patient.
Determine if each patient has traveled outside of the U.S. or to States with confirmed cases of 2019-nCoV recently. If so, question the patient about recent fever or flu-like symptoms. If present, take appropriate precautions, including respiratory precautions.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks.
Alfred Low-Beer

Dear: ALFRED
In light of the dominant flu strain this year (H1N1) and the Coronavirus outbreak which has now spread from China to the United States, I want to encourage all mobile healthcare programs and clinicians to wash their hands often with soap and water and to clean the ambulance and all equipment with disinfectant between each patient.
I also want to encourage, in the strongest terms possible, that all programs adopt a high level disinfection program utilizing a clinically-proven decontamination model, including UV light systems and hydrogen peroxide mist. We don't ever want ambulances to become the source of nosocomial infection. Keeping our patients and clinicians healthy is, and should be, our top priority.
