In light of the Corona-virus pandemic crisis, the State has issued several waivers allowing certain deviations from the Office of EMS regulations.
While we as a squad are not regulated the the OEMS regulations some will have a possible effect on you or the squad.
EMT certifications that were to expire on June 30, 2020, will be extended to expire on August 31, 2020.
The American Heart Association has extended the expiration date of their BLS Provider and Instructor cards for 60 days. The State will accept this extended expiration for a period of 60 days from the AHA or any other approved certifying agency that provideds for an extension up to 60 days.
The State will allow licensed agencies (such as SB3) to respond with one EMT and one first responder providing she/he has a valid CPR card at the BLS /professional level. In such a case, the EMT will direct patient care.
The State will also allow licensed agencies to use unlicensed vehicles, providing the vehicle meets the OEMS standards. Our vehicles meet the EMSCNJ standards, which are generally higher than the OEMS standards, we will insure any differences are met by our vehicles.
As a result of this we may use willing volunteers to run with SB3 employees, either during the day or at night to make sure we can maintain adequate ambulances for response.
Please help if you can when the need arises.
Thanks.
