As most of you probably know by now the Kingston Fire Dept. suffered a LODD loss on this past Saturday when firefighter Dennis Sherrard apparently suffered a heart attack and went into cardiac arrest while participating in a fire department training exercise at the Middlesex County Fire Academy. Despite immediate initiation of CPR by EMT's on the scene and rapid transport to the hospital in our ambulance (which was there on standby for the Kingston Fire Dept.), Mr. Shennard could not be revived and died.
Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Firefighter Shennard as well as the members of the Kingston Fire Dept.
The arrangements for Firefighter Shennard viewing and funeral are as follows: A viewing will be held at Murphy's funeral home (616 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ - corner of West New and Ridge Roads) from 6 to 9 pm this Wednesday evening (June 30) The funeral will be on Thursday (July 1) at 10 am at Murphy's funeral home immediately followed by burial at Rocky Hill Cemetery in Skillman, N.J.
As is our custom when there is a death in our town's first responder community, especially a LODD, we will attend the viewing as a group. We will meet at our New Road building at 6:15 pm on Wednesday and head over to the funeral home as a group, promptly at 6:30 pm. We will then return as a group to our building following our paying of respect. Members should plan on attending in uniform (Dress A whites for those that have it and Dress B - blue button-up shirt or polo shirt for those that do not.) Past members are also encouraged to attend and may travel with us. Appropriate civilian dress is requested.
If any members are available for the funeral on Thursday, please let me know. We will attend as a group and utilize our ambulances/responder units for the procession.
Any questions, please contact me. Also please let me know that you will be attending on Wednesday evening.
Thank you.
