[KPFARS-Operations] IMPORTANT UPDATE

  1.   All ambulances and first responder vehicles were treated with GC200 Cleaner and Disinfectant.   This is a proactive sanitizer and kills a wide variety of microbial agents including coranaviruses that contact surfaces which have been treated.  It has been applied to all surfaces in the cab and patient compartment.  It lasts about 30 days. The compound is safe and you should not experience a reaction to it.  If you experience any issues, please report it immediately and seek medical help if appropriate.  Surfaces should still be cleaned after transport, especially surfaces where patient contact is likely, such as the stretcher and stair chair.  Cleaning after a call will not decrease the effectiveness of the chemical..The SDS is in the binder
  2.  Park Place continues to be a hot spot for Covid 19 positive patients.  The county has plans in place should they need to evacuate patients, if the number of positive patients continues to increase.  If undertaken it would likely occur late next week.  As planned county resources will be used and we should not be directly involved.
  3.  We have an adequate supply of n95 masks and surgical masks.  Our supply of field gowns and face shields is very low and have been used more quickly than anticipated.  We do have a supply of isolation suits on hand, so please familiarize yourself with donning and doffing them.  See attached sheets.  We do have goggles.  They can be used in place of face shields.  They are reusable so clean them after use and keep them available for you for future use.  Use the face shields only for aerosolizing interventions, such as suctioning, BVM, intubation, etc.
  4.  Before transporting any patient check on www.hippocrates.<http://www.hipocrates.gov/nj>nj.gov to make sure the hospital is not on divert.  Hospitals are starting to go on divert in clusters, mostly in north New Jersey, but earlier today RWJ-Somerset was on divert.  Also if your patient shows any signs of Covid19 you MUST call the requested hospital before leaving the scene.
