Our bylaws require us to abide by the training guidelines of the EMS Council of New Jersey. One of those guidelines is that all our members that are active member (i.e., riding members) have a current CPR certification at the BLS/Professional level. This applies to all riding members regardless of position (EMT, Attendant, or Driver). We are required to submit a report annually and list all members and among other things, provide the expiration date of their CPR card. Since we have many new members and many other members whose cards expired in the last year, rather than targeting this email to those whose information we do not have, I am sending it to everybody.

Our report is audited for CPR cards, and if we have riding members without CPR cards, our report will be rejected, and we will not be in good standing with the Council. To avoid this anyone who does not have a valid CPR card will be moved to the inactive status and not be eligible to ride until they update their CPR card.

I need you to provide me with a copy of your CPR card for verification as soon as possible. Our report is already past due. Please provide it to me by September 1st.

Since most members have an AHA BLS CPR for Healthcare Providers ecard, the simplest way to do this is to reply to this email and send me your ecard code found on the card. This will allow me to print the card and put it into your file.

If you do not have your card you can go to the following site:

AHA eCards verification (heart.org)<https://ecards.heart.org/student/myecards?pid=ahaecard.employerStudentSearch>

And download a copy of your card (the full-size card - not the wallet card) and forward it to me, I will then place it in your file. You should also keep a copy with you in case you are asked to produce it.

If you have a paper card (unlikely since all AHA Training Centers were required to switch to ecards over 2 years ago) or a card issued by someone other than the AHA please take a picture of both sides with your cell phone and email them to me. If you do not have that capability, let me know so that we can figure out who to get me a copy of your card for your file.

If you do not have a current CPR card, let me know, so we can find a course for you.

Thanks for your cooperation.
