[KPFARS-Members] Fwd: [middlesexcountynjems] Updated AHA Card Extensions during COVID-19 Outbreak

Attached via the Middlesex County OEM is the latest version of the AHA extension waivers on certification for providers and instructors.  Basically it supersedes the original extension of 60 days to 120 days.  It applies to cards expiring in March 2020 or later.  It does not apply to cards that expired in February 2020 or earlier.  It applies only for purposes of the AHA, such as renewal.  It does not apply to State requirements, who to date have extended CPR cards for 60 days. We will see if they extend it to match the AHA.  The EMSCNJ has been silent on the issue.

The American Heart Association acknowledges the unprecedented strain the COVID-19 pandemic is placing on the delivery of healthcare and supporting operations, including training. So, while you may be unable to train because of COVID-19 in your area, we are updating guidance released on March 13, 2020 regarding card extensions. The American Heart Association will now extend AHA Instructor and Provider Course Completion Cards for 120 days beyond their recommended renewal date, beginning with cards that expire in March 2020.
