We have been advised that there have been several Covid-19 confirmed positive cases at the Park Place Center Nursing Home.
If you are dispatched to this location, please check with police headquarters via cell phone for any specifics. Encourage the staff to bring the patient to the door via wheelchair, if possible. Only 2 members should enter and they should be in full PPE (n95, gloves, gown, and face shield and/or eye protection). All gear should go on the stretcher. When removing the gear from the stretcher, place it on a yellow plastic sheet (located in the cabinet with the CID's). Any equipment that is used should be placed in a red bio bag (in the jump bag) and not in the jump bag. If possible the bag should be kept closed and only opened to get the gear. Ideally by the member who has not touched the patient.
We have placed one of the oral probe thermometers in the jump bag (center compartment), it works better than the non-contact thermometer and temporal probe thermometer.
Do not take the toughbook in on calls. Make your notes on paper and transfer them after the call.
If you need or want to "change" gloves put the new pair on over the old pair, do not expose your skin.
Remember, place a surgical mask on all patients and call the ED before leaving scene, if your patient screens positive for Covid-19 (positive Covid -19 test, fever over 100, persistent cough, or respiratory distress)
Stay Safe.
Thanks.
